Past Simple

was/were, regular/irregular verbs, positive/negative/question sentences

If there isn’t a verb in sentences, we use was or were.

Now: I’m young.

Past: I was child.

I / he / she / it + was

you / we / they + were

 

We use verb2 past simple sentences.

verb2 is regular verb or irregular verb.

Regular Verbs:

verb+ed

play: played

watch: watched

listen: listened

 

Irregular Verbs:

say: saw

go: went

come: came

 

Positive Sentences:

Subject + V2 + object.

I went shopping yesterday.

We played tennis on Monday.

She taught English to me.

 

Negative Sentences:

Subject + didn’t + V1 + object.

He didn’t go to school.

They didn’t do this work.

 

Questions:

Did + Subject + V1 + Object

Did you do homework yesterday?

Did you go to the library for that book?
